ABOUT US
The mission of the Pekin Area Foundation for
Educational Excellence is to promote and enhance educational excellence through
the acquisition and distribution of resources for the benefit of the students of
the Pekin Area Schools.
The participating school districts are not always able
to provide all the desirable educational experiences for their students because
of financial limitations. The Foundation extends the arm of local school
districts in their efforts to provide challenging and enriching experiences for
their students.
With financial support from individuals and businesses, the Foundation
envisions the possibility of offering a variety of programs and services. Some
examples of these are awarding mini-grants to teachers for projects that
demonstrate exceptional educational merit, awarding scholarships to graduating seniors from Pekin Community High School attending Illinois
Central College, and assisting graduating eighth grade students from the member
districts with summer school tuition to Pekin Community High School.
In the future we hope to expand our current programs
and hope to help the member districts in creating programs for purchasing
special equipment, and funding after school or summer enrichment programs.
In addition gifts and endowments can provide short and
long term financial resources that enable the Foundation to promote and enhance
educational excellence for the students in the Pekin Area Schools.
